“Look, He is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.” – Revelation 1:7 (NIV)
Today, I don’t feel physically well, but my heart is full. It has been such a beautiful and meaningful day—a day that left me in awe of God’s surprises, timing, and presence.
A Beautiful Morning Surprise
The day began with something simple yet deeply heartwarming—a morning chat with my best friend. She has been living in the U.S. for two years, and we rarely get the chance to catch up because of our time difference and schedules. But today, we had time. She casually asked me what time our church service starts because her fiancé’s sister was planning to attend. I thought, What a pleasant surprise. But little did I know, God had something even more special prepared.
As I got ready for church, it began to rain heavily. Honestly, there were many things that could have kept me from coming. But I went anyway—and I’m so glad I did.
An Unexpected Reunion
As I sat in my usual spot at church, my boyfriend leaned in and whispered, “Your best friend is here.” I was confused. What do you mean? I turned—and there she was. Standing there beside her fiancé. In church. After two years. I couldn’t believe it! I ran to her and hugged her tightly. I was filled with so much joy that I literally jumped. The whole church rejoiced too. Everyone missed them, and it was as if time had stopped for a moment.
Then a churchmate said something that struck a chord in me:
“Isn’t it amazing? What if it was the Lord who appeared instead? Imagine how overwhelming our joy would be if we saw Jesus! If we already feel this much happiness seeing someone we love, how much more joyful will it be when we finally see the Lord?”
I stood there, humbled. His words lingered with me the entire day.
What If Jesus Returned Right Now?
As the service went on, we were reminded of God’s power. A new church guest who was paralyzed was prayed for. I even had the honor of praying for a family to receive Jesus. The Spirit was moving. It felt like Heaven touched earth.
Later that day, we went to a nearby café, and I finally got to catch up with my best friend. We talked for hours. She shared how she’s been serving in the music ministry in her local church in the U.S. since she arrived, and how God has been so faithful in her journey. I shared my recent decision to take a sabbatical and what God has been teaching me through rest.
That reunion made me reflect even deeper.
Jesus said He will return. It’s a promise.
“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.” – Matthew 24:44 (NIV)
What if He came today?
Would I run to Him like I did to my friend? Would I be excited? Would I feel ready—or regretful?
And if He asked me, “What have you done with your life?”—what kind of story would I tell?
Would my story glorify Him?
Living With Eternal Intentionality
This day reminded me: it’s not enough to have good intentions. As I wrote in one of my previous blogs, “Intention doesn’t define destination—direction does.” It’s not enough to say, “I want to live for God.” We must walk in that direction every single day.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22 (NIV)
Let us live every day as if it could be the day He returns. Let us:
- Seek Him in prayer
- Meditate on His Word
- Follow His commands
- Love the people He places in our lives
- Surrender daily, even when we stumble
Yes, we will fall short. But that’s exactly why Jesus came. Peter denied Him three times, and yet Jesus restored him. Our failures don’t disqualify us—God’s grace is sufficient.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
He knows we are imperfect. But He invites us anyway. He came to save, not to condemn. And oh, how wonderful is the love of Jesus!
So press on, keep the faith, and fix your eyes on Him. And may we all live lives that one day hear Him say:
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:21
Reflection Question:
If Jesus came back today, what story would your life tell? Would it glorify Him?
I’d love to know your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment or contact me directly—I’d be so blessed to hear what God is stirring in your heart.
Faithfully,
Yani
