Why Your Life Is Never a Waste: The Power of Testimony, Ministry, and Generosity

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 (NIV)

While unpacking from my recent move, I found myself sitting with a box full of finished journals—pages filled with prayers, thoughts, Scripture, and tears from the past year. I’ve reread them before, but this time was different. A quiet tug-of-war stirred in my heart: Should I keep them or let them go?

I couldn’t help but feel torn. These notebooks held memories, but they also took up space. What if I kept moving from place to place? Could I carry them all?

My Journals from 2024 to 2025

As I sat with the Lord, journaling yet again, an idea dropped into my heart: This is what your blog is for.

A place to write.

A place to remember.

A place to testify.

And not just for me. For others, too.

Suddenly, the pieces came together. I realized that the very reflections that once helped me survive hard days could now be vessels of encouragement to someone else. What once felt personal and private now felt purposeful.

1. Your Testimony Is Powerful—Even the Unfinished Ones

Sometimes we think testimonies only matter if they’re dramatic or “complete.” But the truth is, even our ordinary days—our doubts, our mistakes, our quiet growth—are not wasted. When surrendered to God, they become part of a story He is still writing.

I used to write in my journals during hard days, not knowing I was recording testimonies. Looking back, those moments are now proof of God’s faithfulness:

  • His comfort in my loneliness
  • His provision in my lack
  • His peace during chaos
  • His miracles in my mess

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

In our church and small group, we often invite people to share testimonies. At first, many were hesitant, thinking theirs were “too small.” But we’ve seen again and again that even the quiet stories have power. Sometimes, the testimony you share is the exact encouragement someone else needs to hear.

Reflection Question: Is there a moment in your life that might seem small but could be an encouragement to someone else if you shared it?

2. Serve with What You Have—Even If It Feels Small

Many people hold back from serving in ministry because they think they’re not skilled enough or qualified. But the body of Christ needs every part—and every part matters.

At our church:

  • A cook blesses us with meals during practice.
  • An electrician fixes fans when they break.
  • An IT professional sets up projectors and slides.
  • A doctor offers help when someone gets sick.
  • A homemaker serves with hospitality and care.

They all have different schedules and struggles. But they choose to serve God with what they have—and that’s what He honors.

You don’t need a stage or a mic to minister. Even posting a Bible verse on social media can speak life to someone.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” – 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

Reflection Question: What simple gift or skill do you have that you can offer in service to God and others this week?

3. Live Generously—You Could Be the Answer to Someone’s Prayer

Our pastor often reminds us: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

There have been times I hesitated to give—thinking, maybe next time when I have more. But even when I didn’t step up, God still moved… through someone else. And in that moment, I realized:

I missed the opportunity to become a channel of blessing.

God doesn’t need our money or time—He is all-sufficient. But He invites us into generosity because He wants to transform us—not just provide for others. When we let go of worldly attachments, we gain something better: peace, joy, and purpose.

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” – 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV)

Reflection Question: Where is God inviting you to be generous today—with your time, talents, or resources?

Final Thoughts: Your Life Is Not a Waste

I know what it’s like to feel like life is passing by. One day blends into another. It can feel mundane, repetitive, or insignificant.

But when I pause and look closely, I see God’s fingerprints everywhere.

If you’re in a season of questioning your worth or purpose, this is your reminder:

  • Your life is never a waste if you let God use it.
  • Your surrender, your steps of faith, your simple “yes” matters.

Whether you’re journaling in secret, helping wire a fan at church, or giving when it’s uncomfortable—God sees you. He’s using you. He’s forming a story far greater than you could imagine.

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” – Philippians 1:6 (NIV)

Faithfully,

Yani 💛
